The Second Principle of Reiki

Just For Today, Don’t Get Angry

While this is a short principle, it encompasses several different truths, all of which are used in the healing process as well as other Reiki practices.   Interestingly, this principle is not only used during the healing process, but also to change the every day consciousness that one holds as a reaction to the world.

In Reiki terms, when you become angry, you are unable to observe the world.  Anger simply blocks the universal energy flow.  Consequently, being free of anger is important when practicing Reiki.  Anger, like anxiety causes extra blocks of energy that will also have to be worked on, in addition to any other blocks of energy you may have.  Unblocking this energy is not only necessary within a Reiki session, but also as disciplined practice outside of the Reiki classroom.

Reiki Principle: Just For Today Don't Get Angry

When you follow the second principle of ‘not becoming angry’, you enable Reiki energies to change.  For example, when learning and observing, (free of any anger) you become more receptive to the many manifestations in the world that are revealed to you.   When you become more observant of the things around your world, many more options present themselves in the form of different types of reactions and responses.

 Second Reiki Principle Explained

When you are angry, it causes an automatic reaction or reflex to occur.  This reaction is a nerve response that affects your brain (mental reflex) in relation to the cause, albeit something or someone.  This reaction, while impulsive, can cause even more anger to accumulate around you as a result of your automatic response.  These reactions also block the universal energy flow (Rei), from manifesting around you.  However, when you respond to the surrounding energy with awareness of what is going on, instead of with anger, it allows for opportunities to flow from this energy.

Some Reiki leaders also see this second principle as allowing yourself to be a part of a higher consciousness.  When this consciousness is asleep, you react, instead of observing.  By awakening this awareness, you enable a different type of observation and manifestation to occur instead of the anger.

It is said that by awakening this consciousness, it allows the Soul to become aware of the flow of the universe, and all of the goodness that is around it.

This principle can therefore help with the healing process. By opening the consciousness to this energy through this second principle, you are able to react in different ways and change many things around you.

When using this second principle of Reiki to unblock energy and release any anger and tension from within, different level of consciousness and awareness manifest themselves.  These new levels of consciousness and awareness enable you to observe more openly and facilitates the flow of universal energies through your body.
