Ma’heo’o, a Reiki Native American Healing Concept  

Ma’heo’o is translated into meaning the Great Spirit or Great One.  It is translated from a Cheyenne word.  It is known to be important to this tribe because it moves from the Great Spirit to use energy that combines the four elements of the earth.  These elements are the earth, air, water and fire.  By calling on these elements and energy, one is able to heal. 

From here, this form of Reiki employs different Native American traditions as well as Reiki methods in order to bring about healing.  This happens in several different forms.  First, are the symbols that are used in relation to this type of Reiki.  There are seven symbols that are well known with Ma’heo’o Reiki.  The first four are symbols that relate to the four elements that are used for energies.  From here, other traditional symbols can be used. 

The second traditional method that is combined with Reiki concerns attunements that are used for the specific purpose of opening energies to the different elements.  This includes not only the earth elements, but also the energy of the Great One.  The purpose of these attunements is to create harmony among these different energies, as well as to facilitate healing. 

In Ma’heo’o Reiki, there are different levels that you can reach with regard to your with healing.  The first level enables you to channel the different energies you can see through the elements being used.  This enables you to tune in to different healing powers that are available at this level.  Be aware that moving to a higher level of consciousness is very important when performing this type of Reiki training.  In accordance with Native American traditions, it may also be used to bring spirit totems, animals and sacred names to one’s life. 

In order to find a Ma’heo’o Reiki session, you should contact the Ma’heo’o Reiki Healing Center to ensure that the person offering the session is qualified.  You can easily find sessions through the internet or by doing research.  By combining Native American traditions with Reiki, Ma’heo’o Reiki is able to call on the different elements and energies from the universe for the purpose of healing and self-empowerment.  This combination of two traditions helps improve ones ability to heal and reach higher levels of consciousness.
